No hot glue goes into this headband, it's all one piece knotted on. Padding from the fabric at the bottom gives your head a little cushion. If you feel the headband is a little tight, you can simply bend the headband outwards to extend the width a little bit more. The headband is bendy, and not made from plastic so it's resizable to any head size!
